Eat at Your Own Risk …

I wanted to title this entry something along the lines of “If I had to have one dish before I die …”, but on second thought, I probably will die from this dish. (Credits goes to BBQ Addict and thanks Kev for the email forward) This is absolutely nuts and irresponsible to you, your family and your loved ones and I’m loving it! Forget what they say in Fast Food Nation or Super Size Me … all of a sudden, McDonald’s seems healthy in comparison.

Here’s what my friend Kevin said and I quote (in blue):

I’m going to try it with a couple variations:

  1. Mixing in some cheese
  2. Cheese and potato shavings / hash browns

If I live, I’ll let you know how it tastes.

Stay tuned here, at Siu Yeh, for the latest development on our health insurance coverage (and a perfect textbook example of what not to do unless you’re not reliant on government health care, which unfortunately for the US = 5% (?) of the population … DAMN YOU BUSH!!!)

This kind of reminds me of the famed Garbage Plate hailed from Rochester, New York (Remember to flip through all 7 photos!)

RIP.

The Best Burger Restaurant in Hong Kong is …

… MONSTER BURGER!

I was a little disappointed with the number of people (54) who voted … I was expecting lots more people taking part in this Burger Poll! And I was a little surprised to see Monster Burger come out on top … in fact, I’ve never tried Monster Burger, but having asked some of my friends, the response for Monster is very positive 🙂 Too bad for Shake’em Buns.

However, I’m not surprised Duke’s Burger came up last … they makes fine burgers, but the high price is a big turn-off for a lot of people (but I did ask, what is your FAVORITE burger, not BEST VALUE BURGER …)

Gourmet Burger Union, Burger Room, Fat Burger and Triple O’s averaged between 7-11% and were relatively close in the number of votes.

Lastly, I was expecting Freshness Burger to do slightly better, but it looks like their patties aren’t exactly what our voters are looking for.

Here are the results for the first Burger Poll in Hong Kong:

Burger Room

Tried Burger Room the other night and I went for a Bacon Cheese Burger; didn’t want to try anything too fancy. The patties were were a little burnt for my liking and definitely too dry. The fries and the mozzarella cheese sticks were also average. Its not bad, just … average.

What I do like about Burger Room is their drinks selection (any place offering Hoegaarden automatically gets a star on my list!) and the drinks might just be a little cheaper than Shake’em Buns. And to be fair, I haven’t tried their foie gras beef burger ($128) and lobster burger ($188), which I’ve heard good things about.

But, I kind of prefer Shake’em Buns because the kitchen is much larger and is much cleaner. Here at Burger Room, the chef had a little tray to prepare his burgers on and the kitchen is large enough for 3 people … with difficulties walking about. The orders also took a little longer than I’d hope (maybe it just felt like a long time because I was hungry!).

Shake’em Buns and Triple O’s (surprisingly) still remains at the top of my list. Duke’s Burger is also up there too if I’m feeling a little pretentious and feel like splurging a bit on gourmet burgers at over HKD 200! But I think burgers are (to a larger extent relative to most other comfort food) more subjective; some like their patties dry, some like them juicy.

Anyway …
